Discography & Repertoire
The Melodores are proud to release their debut CD - "Rain Check!"
Featuring eleven songs (two live recordings), Rain Check is a must-have for any Melodores fan. Entirely self-produced, this album highlights the cohesion and vibrancy of the group in a way not captured before. Songs like "Supermassive Black Hole" and "Why Georgia" are sure to be perennial favorites, while unusual pieces like Eric Whitacre's "Sleep" and A.R. Rahman's "Zikr" offer an unusual glimpse into the wilder regions of a cappella. A collection of varied songs and genres, tied together with the musical talent of the first generation of Melodores, is the defining thread of the album and a must-listen for any fan.
The majority of the recordings for "Rain Check" were made during the weekend of Nashville's "thousand-year flood," which brought tremendous damage to much of the city in May 2010. In a few short hours, the city and surrounding counties were deluged with up to nineteen inches of rain. Rivers crested at never before seen levels; cars, homes, and people were swept away; lives and livelihoods were lost. For that reason, a portion of this physical album's profits will go to organizations and people who, months later, are still working tirelessly to relocate families and rebuild lives.
